Intune ring planning in 20 minutes

Keep three rings: pilot (IT + champions), broad (main cohort), and break-glass (excluded, for emergencies only).

• Pilot: small group, short deadlines, daily health checks.
• Broad: staged assignments with a 1-2 week lag after pilot sign-off.
• Break-glass: never assigned risky configs; used to recover when policy harms core services.

Document entry/exit criteria for each ring and a rollback step before you deploy. I also tag each policy with the ring it belongs to in the name (e.g., Win10_Hardening_Pilot) so it’s obvious who should be impacted.
